About Us
Welcome to the official website of the Indian Society for Paediatric Neurosurgery. Due to certain unavoidable reasons the website could not be updated. This has now been rectified and wears a new look.

In the late 1940s and early 1950s the seeds of neurosurgery were firmly planted in a formal way in India. It has now germinated into a full specialty with several distinct superspecialties within it such as Pediatric Neurosurgery, Cranial Base Surgery et al . In the late 1980s a need was felt to develop the super specialty  of Paediatric Neurosurgery within the sphere of neurosurgery in India. To fulfill this objective The Indian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (IndSPN) was founded in 1990 immediately after the 17th Annual Conference of International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery (ISPN) held in Bombay. The Indian Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery was founded to promote the art and science of pediatric neurosurgery in India and to improve the welfare of children in India. Another important facet of the society's goal was the advancement of pediatric neurosurgical knowledge.

The Dr S N Bhagwati Oration is also conducted during the annual meeting. A full session has been introduced for presentation by residents and post graduates. CME programmes in collaboration with the ISPN are also being held.

Prizes are awarded to encourage and maintain excellence and quality work. Prizes are awarded for oral presentations (two prizes) and poster presentation (one prize) in addition to awards for residents. Neurosurgeons are well known for their creativity. To encourage the creative instinct a prize is awarded for the most creative presentation using multimedia tools. A panel of judges chosen during the conference is responsible for deciding the winners.
